Liverpool were hoping to restore their failing title hopes, but it was Pep’s men that extended their lead at the top. The Citizen’s thrashed their hosts 4-1 to go five points clear with a game in hand.
City are ten points clear of Jurgen Klopp’s men and are now on a ten-match winning run. Right now, what can stop City from regaining the title is City themselves.
Liverpool in a top-four battle: At the start of the season, Liverpool were heads and shoulders above their rivals. They were dead-certs to retain their title.
However, their title challenge has faded in the last few weeks due to their bad run of form, and if care is not taken, their season could spiral out of control.
The Reds have lost their last three home games, although injuries have not helped their cause too. Jurgen Klopp’s are currently ten points behind City and are just a point above Chelsea in fifth place.
In what has been a strange season so far, the Reds now face a battle to stay in the top four.
Manchester United drop points at home again: Manchester United lost more ground in the title race after dropping points at home again. The Red Devils were held to a 3-3 draw by Everton, which leaves them five points behind Manchester City.
United’s home form has been an issue this season with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men dropping points against teams like Crystal Palace and Sheffield United at Old Trafford this campaign.
Saturday’s draw felt like a loss as they were on course for a win until Everton struck deep into stoppage time to secure a point.
Tuchel show continues: Thomas Tuchel unbeaten run as Chelsea manager continued after the Blues edged out Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.
Tuchel passed his first real test when Chelsea beat Jose Mourinho’s Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium last Thursday. Chelsea backed up that victory with a 2-1 win over Sheffield.
Tuchel has now won three of the four Premier League matches he has managed. The Blues are also back in contention for a top-four finish with just a point separating them and Liverpool.
Tottenham bounce back: Before Sunday, Spurs were in a mini-crisis form after losing three consecutive games. It marked the first time Jose Mourinho lost three straight games and two successive home games as manager.
However, they returned to winning ways on Sunday following a 2-0 win over West Brom. They were boosted by the return of Harry Kane, who opened the scoring.
Although Spurs stay in eighth place, they are only four points off the top four with a game in hand. Despite their bad run of form, Spurs are still in contention in all the four competitions they are playing this season.
