Nigeria will hope to get the maximum points in their back-to-back Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against West African rivals, Sierra Leone.
The Super Eagles host the Leone Stars at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin on Friday before the two teams play again at the Stevens Siaka Stadium, Freetown next Tuesday.
And according to Nigeria’s national team manager, Gernot Rohr, the three-time African Champions will aim for victories in both games, which would seal their qualification.
Nigeria currently leads Group L with six points following victories over The Benin Republic and Lesotho in their opening two games. Wins in the doubleheader against Sierra Leone will put them on 12 points, and that will guarantee their place in Cameroon, who are the host of next AFCON.
Speaking ahead of the first leg on Friday, Rohr revealed it is vital his side win the two games as it will give them the chance to focus on the World Cup qualifiers, which starts next year.
“We have our focus & objective for the matches, Rohr said. We want to win both games so we can have the ticket & be more relaxed for the final games. You know next year, we also have the World Cup qualifiers to focus on. It is better to get the AFCON job behind us now.”

The German tactician also praised the spirit of the players in camp even though the clash is their first competitive game in a year.
