Former Chelsea and Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has said he is coming back into management because he feels he is still young and hasn’t won a trophy in 18 months. The three time premier league winner has been without a club since he was sacked as Manchester United manager in December after a 3-1 loss to Liverpool. He has stated his intention to return to management in June and he has reiterated that while speaking as an analyst for the El-Clasico on Bein Television.
Speaking last night Mourinho said; ” For a manager I am really young’, and i think of course age is also in your brain, in your heart and in your passion. And i can say i’m no different from when i started in football”. ‘The fact that i have a big desire to be back is because i don’t win a trophy in eighteen months. The former Real Madrid also responded to claims made by former Madrid president Roman Claderon and La Liga President Tebas that he will be managing the club next season. He said the La Liga’s president words were flattering while he also said he can’t respond to Calderon’s claims because he obviously know more than him.
He said; “In relation to the words of Mr Tebas, i think it’s very flattering’,The fact that he names me as somebody that could bring something to his Liga. ‘He’s doing an mazing work in his Liga. ‘Mr Calderon, obviously an ex-president of Real Madrid. I’m pretty sure probably he has some general information about the club of his passion but he knows more than me because i know absolutely nothing about it at all”. He added.
Mourinho also claimed he put the needs of Manchester United first during his final season at the club, and hinted some players could have made a similar choice prior to his dismissal. The Portuguese left Old Trafford in December, having overseen one of the team’s worst starts to a campaign in Premier League history. Much was made of an apparent falling out between the Portuguese coach and star midfielder Paul Pogba late in Mourinho’s tenure.
“If you tell me that in the past season that I had some problems … I don’t want to speak about [that] for obvious reasons,” he said. “I will not deny to you that some factors had an influence in that the last period was not a good one. It’s impossible to win trophies without a good relationship with players. “What you need sometimes is to accelerate some process, what you need to be is to be a club man and sometimes to be a club man you need to forget yourself a little bit.
“I think I always did it, sometimes for the good of the immediate needs of the club and group. “I put myself in situations that in the eyes of people from the outside are not the best position, but I don’t regret that at all because I always give my all for the club.” Mourinho won the Carabao Cup and Europa League at Old Trafford, and guided the team back into the Champions League, leaving the 56-year-old to defend his record at the helm, and his interaction with the squad. “It’s not possible to win trophies without a good relationship with the players,” he said. “In Real Madrid I won trophies, in Chelsea I won trophies, a lot of them, three Premier League trophies, which is a lot in England. “In Manchester United I won trophies too, it’s not possible to win trophies without good [player] relationships.”
