The month of April brought a lot of exciting moments for sports fans across the globe, fans have seen great sporting moments from tennis, football and Formula 1 which is why we will be taking a look at the top five sporting moments in April.
1. Man City Crowned Champions: It was a matter of when and not if Man City will win the premier League. Though they would have love to do so against their city rivals when they met at the Ethiad Stadium and everything looks perfect when they went two goals ahead in the first thirty minutes, However United Ensured the champagne will be put on ice by mounting an extraordinary comeback to win 3-2. Nevertheless West Brom ensured that City don’t have to wait for long by stunning United at Old Trafford, a victory which ensured City are champions for the third time in the Premier League.
2. Roma Stuns Barcelona: There were so many twist and turns in this year Champions League Quarterfinals but Roma’s incredible comeback against Barcelona is the one that stood out. Having lost the first leg at Camp Nou 4-1, it was a mission impossible to qualify but Roma believed and they got the perfect start after six minutes when Edin Dzeko gave them the lead, before De Rossi penalty gave them hope and they got the all conquering third goal through Manolas header which sent the Stadio Olimpico into Derilium. The goal capped an extraordinary comeback and it was one of the best comeback the Champions League has witnessed.
3. Nadal wins 11th Monte Carlo title: The King of clay is back after being away from the tour due to injury. There were questions if he will be able to dominate on clay this year having not played since he retired in his Australian Open Quarter Final against Cilic. However Nadal quash those doubts with a vintage performance at the Monte Carlo Masters Where he won his 11th title there. He did that without dropping a set. His latest victory showed it’ll take a monumental effort to stop Nadal from dominating again on clay this year.
4. Hamilton wins Azerbaijan Grand Prix: The fourth race of this year’s Formula 1 moved to the Baku circuit and it proved to be one full of drama. Vettel took pole a day earlier but it was Hamilton teammate who led for most of the race until he suffered a tyre puncture in the final three laps (tough luck) which allows Hamilton to take the lead and eventually winning the race.
5. Barcelona wins their 25th LA Liga title: Barcelona won their 25th LA Liga title and their 7th in the last ten years but were made to work hard for it in their victory against Deportivo. They went two ahead thanks to goal from Coutinho and Messi but Deportivo were not going to give up easily and were level in the second half but two more goals from Messi ensured Barcelona will be crowned for the 25th time in Spain.
